Pinoy icon: Support FORTEnors concert for ‘Yolanda’ victims and kids with cancer

Pinoy Icon 2013, Dr. Socorro Martinez is urging fellow Ilonggos to watch “FORTEnors sings for KKK and Yolanda Victims” on November 29, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the CPU University Church.
Martinez, who is also the president of KKK (Mga Kaibigan ng mga Kabataang May Kanser) admitted that originally, the group organized the concert to raise funds for the chemotherapy of children with cancer.
“But Yolanda changed everything. The destruction it has brought about may have spared most of us physically, but it has affected us all emotionally and socially,” Martinez said.
“We were so touched that the FORTEnors, a group of their stature and fame, volunteered to do the show for free. They were very enthusiastic about doing it for the kids of KKK, and more so when it was decided that the show would also be for the typhoon victims,” she added.
“During the wake of the storm, I was hearing about and watching in the television and internet the horror stories of how the victims lost their homes, churches, schools, and their loved ones. I was really so disturbed about it, feeling so restless and knowing that I have to do something for them. I also felt so helpless, thinking that maybe what I can do will not make that much difference. But with this concert, each individual can contribute something. No matter how small and seemingly insignificant it may be, when several individual efforts are put together, then they become significant. I am very glad that KKK will be the instrument through which more people will be helping and will be helped,” she said.
“We are calling on our friends and supporters to watch the show. We hope that we can somehow make our Ilonggo brothers and sisters who were ravaged by the storm, feel that they are not alone in facing their problems.  Never Never Never Give Up,” she concluded.
The show’s sponsors include: Panay News, Lea Duenas, Chinkorn Pama, Gerry Malilin, Wanda Martinez, Edwin Huan, Feline's, VJS, CPU, Tonino's, Moonshell Divinagracia, Makinaugalingon Printers, ABS-CBN and Merkado Restaurant.
