PWDs affected by 'Yolanda' appeal for help
There are persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Panay areas that were hit by super typhoon "Yolanda" last Friday, November 8, 2013.
"Currently, we are uncertain yet how many of our members are affected as communication across our region is still down. We have no recourse but to activate our Emergency Coordinating Council for Person with Disabilities in Helping Easing the Life of PWD’s (ECCPWD/I-HELP)," said general manager Louie Arches Posa.
Posa is appealing for the public's help in providing PWDs with the necessary help and assistance.
"We are trying to provide them with the basic needs for survival (relief operation) and later repair/construction of their damaged houses which will bring them back to the mainstream of their daily lives just as you helped us last June 23, 2008 during Typhoon Frank," Posa said.
"We are also requesting some financial support for the repair and/or replacement of our workshop equipment that are also affected by the typhoon so we can continue our present project that is supporting 10 regular workers and 40 contractual laborers who are all PWDs and member of the families," he added.
