Wellness at work: the DENR example

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 6 is embracing a wellness program at their premises, which is seen to benefit its personnel tremendously.

DENR 6 Regional Director Jim O. Sampulna has encouraged wellness at work initiatives to keep employees fit and healthy.

The DENR shared photos of its “Hataw” or exercise, which regularly happens every Monday and Wednesday at the DENR 6 Regional Office, located at the Pepita Aquino Avenue.

One photo shows Chief of Staff Forester Louie Laud joining the employees during the “Hataw” last March 10, Monday.

A study published at the American Journal of Health, has showed that wellness programs, if implemented correctly at work, can help lower health care costs, increase the employees’ productivity, morale and loyalty and reduce their disability-related costs.

According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise controls weight, combats health conditions and diseases, improves mood and boosts energy./
