Boodle Feast at Blackbeard’s Seafood Island Grill

By Marie Katherine Villalon

The military’s way of eating is called “boodle fight”. Here, rice and viands laid out on banana leaves are set on top of a long table. Then, soldiers eat from the feast with their bare hands – no plates, no utensils.

What has long been a military tradition has become another trend in dining, but of course, it has a better name – boodle feast – and in more comfortable conditions.

Dagupan Festival: Deep-Fried Bangus, Pork Barbecue, Grilled Tahong, Grilled Okra and Talong, Steamed White Shrimps, Sauteed Talbos ng Kamote, Green Mango and Bagoong Rice with Crispy Liempo. Good for 2-3 persons P795; good for 4-6 persons P1,285.

Blackbeard’s Seafood Island (BSI) Northshore Grill, the group that created and brought the ‘Original’ Boodle Feasts, has opened in Amigo Plaza, Iloilo City, giving seafood and grilled food lovers a chance to enjoy the boodle-fight style of eating in an air-conditioned space.

Prior to its opening, Iloilo bloggers had a preview of three of their many sumptuous boodle feasts.

We had Tali Beach, which includes Pork Barbecue, Chicken Inasal, Grilled Tilapia, Grilled Squid, Grilled Talong, Grilled Tomatoes, Steamed White Shrimps, Steamed Crabs, Sauteed Tahong, Lato, Green Mango, Watermelon, and Steamed Rice with Crispy Dulong.
