Philippine Airlines connects Iloilo, Cebu and Los Angeles

From Cebu to Los Angeles
Philippine Airlines' Cebu to Los Angeles flights that will be launched on March 15, 2016 is a welcome development for Ilonggos because they no longer have to travel for one hour to Manila in order to fly to Los Angeles. The flight from Iloilo to Cebu takes only 30 minutes.

"The plan stemmed from the clamor of our kababayans to have a flight from the Visayas to the United States. Many Visayans want to avoid flying to Manila, said Harry Inoferio, Philippine Airlines Sales Head.

"The route was also designed to make connections to our domestic flights," he added. The areas that will benefit the most from this new route are Iloilo, Bacolod and Tacloban in the Visayas; and Davao, Butuan and Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao because they have direct flights to and from Cebu.

The launch of the route coincides with the 75th anniversary of Philippine Airlines. Because of this, those who will avail of the Cebu-Los Angeles flights from March 15-31 will only pay 650 US dollars. That results to savings of 200-300 dollars.

Inoferio added that the Cebu to Los Angeles travel route will help improve and induce more commerce and tourism in the Visayas area which is a haven of beaches and rich in culture and history.

He added that there are no restrictions on cargo volume, which is beneficial to exporters.  Many Ilonggo products such as handicrafts are exported to the United States.

Cielo Villaluna, PAL spokesperson said that what sets PAL apart from other airlines is their "full service." "We serve food and drinks inflight and onground; quality of service, we have a good safety record and our length of existence," she said.

She also shared their protocols when a flight is delayed. "If a flight is delayed by less than 3 hours, we provide food. If the delay is more than four hours, we provide more than that," she said. In certain cases, they also provide hotel accommodation. On some flight delays that could affect a passenger’s connecting flight, for example, to Los Angeles, "we book you through other airlines. We exhaust all means. That differentiates us from budget airlines," said Villaluna.
