Earth food on your skin

Earth Food Organic Soap is nature’s way of taking care of your skin

Everyone wants to have good skin and others would spend a fortune on chemicals, which in the long run does more harm than good.

To have healthy and glowing skin, we need not look far. Herbs, spices and oil extracts from plants have tremendous benefits on our body, inside and out. They are also natural.

Ylang-Ylang Tea Organic Soap has saponified  olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable oil,  ylang-ylang leaves and tea tree essential oil.

For example, coffee, chocolate and orange are rich in antioxidants that protect and renew our skin from the harmful effects of pollution, ultraviolet rays of the sun and stress.

Cinnamon, a spice, is commonly sprinkled on bread. But, do you know that it reduces inflammation, kills bacteria and helps bring back blood to the surface of the skin? That is why some women apply it on their lips to make them plump.

Lavender, a herb, has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an effective treatment for acne and wrinkles. It is also a wonderful skin toner because it stimulates blood flow to the skin cells. It relaxes the nerves as well.

Coconut oil is a natural skin moisturizer and protector against microbial infections that can enter the body through pores or wounds. That is why coconut oil is a good alternative to commercially sold lotions.

These, among others have found their way to proudly Ilonggo-made Earth Food Organic Soap (EFOS), a collection of yummy-looking homemade organic soaps created by Claudine A. Masilongan.

Milk lavender organic soap has saponified olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, coconut milk, raw honey, oatmeal and lavender essential oil.

Handmade and Eco-Friendly
Claudine said she learned soap-making when she was in high school in Assumption Iloilo. The hobby turned into a business when after she was looking for solutions to her oily skin, relatives and friends started to ask about her soap, tried them out and ordered them as Christmas presents.

There are three ways to make soap and Claudine uses the cold process which starts from scratch and has a longer curing time. “Earth Food Organic Soaps are made from scratch, one batch at a time,” she explained. Other processes are a hot process, which has longer cooking but faster curing time and Melt & Pour, a ready-made soap mixture for soap making.

Citrus Citronella Organic Soap. Ingredients: Saponified olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, lemon rind, orange rind, and citronella essential oil. Detoxifies skin, gets rid of acne, inhibits infections, soothes inflammation and repels insects.

“Earth Food Organic Soap is purely handmade and eco-friendly. None of our soaps is tested on animals. I only use natural ingredients; no sodium laurel, no petroleum products, no detergents, no synthetics, and no parabens. EFOS only contains olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable and palm oil, essential oils and skin-safe fragrances for scent; herbs, spices, fruit and vegetable extracts and earth pigments for color and texture,” she added.

“I have oily skin and my hubby and son have dry skin so we made sure that we get what we wanted from our soaps rather than depend on grocery-bought soaps. EFOS is a mixture of moisturizing, baby-safe/mild, natural whitening, anti-fungal, anti-aging, exfoliating and relaxing properties,” she said.

Castile Soap contains 95 percent olive oil and 5 percent coconut oil.
