Subaru: confidence in motion

Safety and performance are the top considerations when buying a car and Subaru, a Japanese automotive manufacturer has been meeting these expectations since  the 1950s.

“Today, the company is present in almost all countries, most especially in the United States, Europe and Asia,” said Brian Chua, Subaru Philippines vice president during the grand opening of their Iloilo branch.

Lyndon Go, president, said that even before Subaru opened in Iloilo, many Ilonggos already own Subaru vehicles.  “There were already Subaru fans who got their vehicles from Cebu and Manila. Coming in, we were able to provide better service,” he said.

Subaru is a safe car

Chua said that they are very confident with the Ilonggo market. “Subaru is a premium brand and many of our buyers are well-traveled, highly educated and technical people which Iloilo has a lot. The age range of our buyers is from 23 years old to 85 years old,” he said.

Go added that there are Subaru owners who are as young as 18 years old. “They were given as gifts from their parents who trust that apart from its performance, Subaru is very safe for their children to drive,” he said.

In fact, Car Buyer (United Kingdom) included the Subaru Outback in its list of 10 safest cars. Auto Blog has also included Subaru Forester and Legacy in its list of Safest Cars for 2016.

Subaru's core technologies

Chua explained the two core technologies that make Subaru a very safe and high-performance vehicle are the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Boxer engine.

The AWD system makes any Subaru vehicle well-balanced, precise, stable and very agile even if one is traveling at high speed or in bad weather.

The Boxer engine is compact and lightweight that it can be fitted all the way down into the chassis and thus allows more crush room in front and on the sides of the vehicle. Sitting horizontally in the engine bay, it moves like a boxer’s fists with a counterpunch action. This helps protect the passenger during a collision.

Subaru vehicles have a two-way performance – automatic and manual.  “Subaru is a driver’s car because it is very intuitive,” Chua said.

“Subaru is the safest car you will ever own,” Go said.
