Mrs. Wharton Pastries, London Bakes and English Teas offers Love Box, a delightful box of four delicious cupcakes which is an ideal gift, take-home treat or surprise to express our love or affection towards someone.

Mrs. Wharton is a British shop, so the Love Box was named as such because in England, people there call everybody, even strangers “love” or “luv”. For example, you walk in a restaurant or cafe, it’s normal for the waitress to ask, “What are you having, luv?” or “What can I get you, luv?”

What’s in a Love Box?

Depending on your choice, it could be cupcakes, cookies, muffins or scones. The cupcake choices include Apple Cinnamon, Red Velvet, Vegan Chocolate, and Guiltless Chocolate. These are available for single purchase at P50 each but the Love Box is only P150 with already four goodies.

Apple Cinnamon cupcake is packed with healthy apple bits and cinnamon, and it is a delicious blend of spice and sweetness. The texture is similar to that of a muffin and you can feel the crisp apples in every bite.

You’re also getting a cupcake with history because Apple Cinnamon is what started Mrs. Wharton Pastries, London Bakes and English Teas.

Owner and baker Anna Marie Rivera-Wharton narrated that every 4 in the afternoon, her husband would crave something sweet, so they would go out, have dessert and coffee somewhere.

Eventually, she started baking. “I started baking in my very small kitchen. The first cake that I made for my husband was Apple Cinnamon. He liked it so much that he would always request me to make one,” she said.

“Opening a cake business never entered my mind at that time. I just liked the fact that when I open our refrigerator, I would see that it’s full of desserts. It’s something we look forward to upon coming home. That feeling of anticipation and delight …” she added.

But always a businesswoman with a vision, Mrs. Wharton eventually saw an opportunity. So, she opened Mrs. Wharton Pastries, London Bakes, and English Teas in 2016 and Apple Cinnamon is one of the featured cakes.

All Guiltless Chocolate cupcakes in one Love Box

Don’t we all love to take a photo of something a loved one gave and post it on social media or at least attempt to? So, I would also recommend including Red Velvet in your Love Box. The cream and scarlet color would make the box of goodies look more colorful and thus Instagrammable, not to mention that it tastes light, moist, and utterly delicious.

Meanwhile, Muffins come in varied flavors - Blueberry, Banana, Chocolate and Carrot Walnut. Whichever is available at the store, these muffins are also included in their All Day Breakfast. So, whether you would like to put it in your Love Box or enjoy it as part of an English breakfast, is up to you.

Originally a Scottish recipe, a Scone is a round bread that is made of wheat or oatmeal. It looks plain, really, but surprisingly it tastes good. Perfect for breakfast or during afternoon tea, it also goes well with jam and butter.

Vegetarians have an option, too. Vegan Chocolate doesn’t use eggs, milk and butter yet it is fluffy and rich in chocolate flavor. Even non-vegetarians love it!

Guiltless Chocolate is dubbed as their chocolate cake that melts in your mouth. It has a low amount of sugar and no butter. It derives its natural sweetness from ingredients like sour cream, Greek yogurt, dark chocolate, and cocoa.

“I want a chocolate cake that I want to eat again and again,” said Mrs. Wharton. To be able to do this, she tried all chocolate recipes until she got the perfect taste. Her family and friends served as critics.

“Quality and value for money are important. I feel sad when I eat out and then the food is not so good. See the happiness that good food brings? We deserve quality so I am bringing to the table something you and I can be proud of,” she explained.
