Iloilo restaurant review: Fog Town Bistro

Sometimes it is hard to see in life. If the fog rolls in we can't see anything. Most people get caught up in life that they forget the purpose of life is to be happy. - Frederick Lenz

Food makes us happy, so let's eat before we get caught up in the busyness of life!

She came across Fog Town Bistro in Plazuela de Iloilo which is one of the places she would recommend for meals and alcoholic drinks.

She started dinner with Crispy Sinigang ni Boy Leg. No, it's not the leg of a boy haha but it consists of crispy yet tender pork cuts, vegetables and sour soup flavored naturally by Batuan seeds. She would recommend this.

Ilonggos love grilled street food, so it's no wonder that Fog Town Bistro's Inasal ni Nanay with unlimited rice only at P105 is one of their popular offerings. The choices are pecho, paa, pork barbecue, tocino barbecue, maskara, pork liver, and chicken liver. She had pork barbecue and maskara which are really tasty. She does not eat internal organs, so she was not able to taste their pork and chicken liver. Each serving (except for pecho and paa) has 3 pieces. Just add P20 to enjoy unlimited iced tea. Since she came with a group, they placed theirs in an iced tea tower.

She paired pork barbecue with Rakim’s Signature Bagoong Rice which includes delicious pork cuts and sliced ripe mangoes. They also serve Adobo Rice which includes tender slices of grilled pork, a few pieces of danggit and fresh tomatoes. She would recommend both dishes.

Their signature dish is Fog Town's Seafood Platter which is akin to paella. It includes mussels, crab, squid, and shrimps. Their kinds of seafood are also well-cooked but not overdone, so she found them tender. The best way to eat steamed crabs and shrimps is with your hands.

They also serve Bape's Bacon Shrimp with garlic rice, Nike's Wings with nachos and fries, Stussy's Beef Pares with garlic rice, Fog Town's Signature Fried Chicken, Beef Salpicao and so much more.

They serve Sizzling Breakfast All Day with unlimited rice for only P98. The choices are Tapsilog, Cornsilog, Tosilog, Hotsilog, Spamsilog. Chosilog and Hamsilog. Simply add P20 to enjoy bottomless iced tea.

The owners are Marlo and Irwyn Legarda who are based in foggy South San Francisco, USA. "Fog Town" was inspired by the fact that during summer, San Francisco tends to be foggy. She did a bit of research on why this is so and found out that the fog happens when the cold wind off the Pacific Ocean replaces the heat of inland California. It has become one of the attractions in San Francisco because people consider it kinda romantic and mysterious.

She dined at Fog Town Bistro on a Saturday evening, so there was a band playing at the Concert at the Plaza. It's a regular activity at Plazuela de Iloilo. A rep explained that you can even buy food from any of the restaurant tenants and then bring it at Plaza Mayor, the huge open space that is filled with dining tables during Concert at the Plaza.

So let's eat and be happy!/

Note: The prices and dishes listed here may change at any time. Their regular serving per person might also look different from what's shown on the photos (pardon my foggy pics, still figuring out how to fix my camera phone).
