Ate Rica’s Bacsilog opens CPU-Iloilo branch

The first and original Ate Rica's Bacsilog is well-known for their delicious smoked bacon paired with egg and rice and made more flavorful by their special cheese sauce. Tasty and budget-friendly.

Now, more bacon and silog lovers will surely delight in Ate Rica's Bacsilog as they opened a store across Central Philippine University’s Gate 3.

Their ulam silogs are Bacsilog, Footsilog, Tocilog, Nuggetsilog, Tapsilog, Hotsilog, Cornedsilog, and Tunasilog. They are placed in an environment-friendly paper cup that is easy to hold which is perfect for students who are on the go. Each cup of silog costs P69 each, a complete meal of one cup rice, ulam, egg, special cheese and chili sauce. One may combine ulam options for P95 only.

They also have add-ons of ulam or bacon serving, special cheese sauce, special chili sauce, egg, mushroom, and rice.

In the mood for an omelet? They serve omelet with cheese and a choice of bacon, tapa, tocino, hotdog, corned beef, tuna, footlong, and nuggets for P85 only.

Ate Rica's Bacsilog was founded by Rica Penalosa, a former bank employee who decided to go into a silog business. In 2006, she started with a humble pushcart within the place where she grew up and just outside De La Salle University.

“I was confident in going into this business because there was a market, which is composed of students. At that time, there were Tapsilog kiosks already so I thought of coming up with Bacsilog,” she said.

She earned P3,000 during her first day. Her business becoming successful, she opened another branch in UST. And the rest is history.

She and her partners started Baconnoisseur Corporation in order to venture into franchising. Since then, the business has branched out to many areas in Manila, mostly near colleges and universities and now it is in Iloilo City. The branch in CPU, their 50th branch is franchised by couple Jennefer and Keio Sy.

The CPU-Iloilo branch is open from 9 am to 7 pm from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, and 3 to 7 pm on Sunday.
