How GrabFood helps small businesses

Food delivery apps like GrabFood not only make food accessible to many but also helps microentrepreneurs reach more customers.

Alicia, an owner of a mobile carinderia called jollijeep, narrated that with GrabFood, she is able to reach more customers apart from her usual 'suki' (regular customers). Because of this, the business improved and she is able to take care of her family better.

Everyday Everything App

GrabFood is one of the services being offered by Grab, the leading everyday everything app that started in Malaysia in 2012. A year later, it was launched in the Philippines.

Later on, they expanded by offering GrabCar and GrabFood, among others.

Food Businesses' Marketing Arm

EJ Dela Vega, head of GrabFood Philippines, stressed that GrabFood has helped level the playing field in the restaurant industry.

He pointed out that if one wants to put up a restaurant, one has to consider foot traffic. But this means that the rent would be higher.

"With online food delivery, we become your online storefront and marketing arm. We want you to focus on making good food. With Grab, the entrepreneur saves on deliveries and enjoys increased revenue and profits," Dela Vega said.

Opportunities from Grab

As a digital platform connecting millions of consumers and partners, Grab provides livelihood opportunities for Filipinos. They are:

1. Consumers
2. Driver-partners
3. Delivery-partners
4. Merchant-partners
5. Microentrepreneurs

In fact, GrabFood has already created thousands of micro-entrepreneurs and you can be one of them.

GrabFood and Iloilo's Food Tourism

In 2015, Grab introduced GrabTaxi in Iloilo City. It was followed by GrabFood in January 2020.

Iloilo City is a priority tourism area and a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) hub, thanks to its delectable dishes, rich cultural heritage, and charming people.

By putting Iloilo's culinary tourism in the spotlight, GrabFood aims to bring positive economic impact and livelihood opportunities to the Ilonggos.

"As we expand GrabFood's operations in the Philippines, we recognize that our job doesn't end after delivering a meal to our consumers. We are inspired by our deeper goal of delivering a positive impact on the lives of our partners and the people who take pride in the development of their city," Dela Vega said.

"With each service that we introduced, we are touching the lives of people," Dela Vega concluded.

One may download the Grab app from Google Play or the App Store. Once logged in, you will see the services like GrabFood and GrabTaxi. For now, these are the only two services available in Iloilo City.
