Tahum - A Pop Up Festival: Love Local, Support a Scholar

Buying local products helps provide income to people within our community and could result in a better local economy. Additionally, it is more sustainable because local products often use materials that are readily available in our area.

Tahum - A Pop Up Festival, which is already in its second year, aims to bring the community closer to these local artisans and producers.

To be held on February 21, 23 and 23, 2020 at the Iloilo Convention Center, Tahum - A Pop Up Festival is twice bigger in scope compared to last year. The fair is a project of Assumption Iloilo Educational Foundation, Inc. and Assumption Iloilo.

Christian Education for Societal Transformation

The proceeds will fund the full six years of education of deserving students in Assumption Iloilo.

Sr. Fidelis Estrada, superior of Assumption Iloilo shared that one of the reasons why Sr. Marie Eugenie founded the Religious of the Assumption is the belief that real lasting societal transformation is through Christian education.

The transformative education of Assumption has three pillars - faith and spirituality, academic excellence and sense of social responsibility.

"An educator plants values in the hearts and the minds of the young that will enable them to lead others to the light. We all want the same thing, a better world for the young ones. A better world is possible through education," Sr. Fidelis said.

"What brought us together is the spirit of caring. We are putting in common the gifts that God blessed us with. We were taught the value of being grateful, then we look for ways and means of repaying to show our appreciation," said Sr. Fidelis about Tahum - A Pop Up Festival.

Tahum - A Pop Up Festival is a product of labor with love. It is the alumni's act of paying forward. Last year's fair has benefitted 24 scholars.
