BDO Cash Agad gives Pinoys quick access to cash

Through its product BDO Cash Agad, BDO Unibank is making cash more accessible to its ATM cardholders, most especially to those living in areas that are several kilometers away from automated teller machines or BDO branches.

Additionally, the service provides income to BDO Cash Agad agents such as sari-sari stores, hardware stores, groceries, pawnshops, and more where customers can claim their cash.

What is BDO Cash Agad?

BDO Cash Agad is a service wherein BDO ATM cardholders can transact with Cash Agad partner agents using a POS terminal. With Cash Agad, BDO ATM cardholders no need to travel far to a BDO branch or any ATM machine in order to withdraw, inquire balance, and receive remittance.

“BDO Cash Agad was created by BDO to provide Filipinos access to cash without having to travel several hours. During the pandemic, we saw the importance of being able to access cash,” said Honey Reyes, SAVP for Corporate Communications.

Engr. Carmelo Pono of Carmen, Cebu started being a BDO Cash Agad agent in October 2016 and has since helped workers in their town by accessing their money easily.

“Before, these factory workers would travel as far as Danao in order to transact in an ATM. They would leave work at 5 p.m. and travel to Danao during payday. They would be greeted with a long line of customers at the ATM and some of them would wait up to 3 a.m. for their turn,” Engr. Pono said.

He added that his BDO Cash Agad store has also helped residents of neighboring towns which are located at least 15 kilometers away. The service has been a tremendous help, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic when Cebu’s towns were on lockdown. “There’s no need for them to go to other towns because they can transact in our store,” he explained.

Elsa Pardo, a BDO Cash Agad partner in Bukidnon, Mindanao shared that residents no longer have to travel to the ATM located 15 kilometers away and thus save on the P36 two-way transportation fee. One advantage of her store is that it is located within the public market area.

Both Engr. Pono and Ms. Pardo expressed satisfaction with the way the BDO Cash Agad team responds to their technical issues. “They are just a phone call away. The next day, their technician comes. They are accommodating,” said Engr. Pono.

Secure transactions

All Philippine-issued ATM cards are accepted in BDO Cash Agad and only accept the Philippine peso denomination. The transactions are secure because you need to key in your pin on the POS terminal or Pinpad, each transaction needs the issuing bank's approval and your card number is encrypted./
