CEB eyes more flights to Australia

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific, is keen on expanding its operations in Australia on the back of growing passenger traffic.  In January 2015, CEB carried 13,875 passengers, more than any other carrier operating direct flights to Sydney from Manila.
Cebu Pacific started operating four times weekly non-stop flights to Sydney on September 9, 2014. The airline added a fifth frequency after three months.
From September to December 2014, Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure Trade and Regional Economics (BITRE) reported a 42% increase in passenger traffic between Sydney and Manila. Prior to CEB’s entry, passenger traffic in the route had been growing at a compound annual growth rate of 8% over five years.

CEB is fully utilizing its seat entitlements to Australia. It is set to participate in air talks which will be held in Canberra, Australia on April 28.

Megaworld to open two new hotels this year

Two new hotels to offer 631 rooms in Newport City and Iloilo Business Park
Megaworld, the country’s leader and pioneer in developing integrated urban townships, is opening two new hotels this year in its two townships in Metro Manila and Iloilo.
Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, which will occupy eight levels of the 12-storey Richmonde Tower in the 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, is set to open in June this year. The business hotel will be the first Richmonde Hotel outside of Metro Manila and will have 151 guest rooms.

It will house a restaurant and deli, function rooms, business center, fitness gym as well as a lap pool with its own pool bar.
Megaworld has commissioned world-renowned architectural firm Gettys to design the hotel’s façade, grand lobby, restaurant and guest rooms. Gettys took inspiration from the city’s rich agricultural roots for the hotel’s design concept.

'Plant trees before getting married'

ILOILO, Philippines – The Catholic Church, especially the Archdiocese of Jaro in Iloilo City, Philippines, is urging the faithful to support the reforestation campaign of the government by planting trees one year and four months after Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) uprooted thousands of trees, including some century-old trees in this province.

Rev. Msgr. Higinio C. Velarde, JCD, representing Abp. Angel N. Lagdameo, D.D., acknowledged the threats posed by the effects of climate change and reiterated that everyone must do something about it. The affected areas need an immediate massive reforestation.   
“He may not be here with us today but this is very important for the Archbishop,” Velarde said referring to the memorandum of agreement that will soon require the faithful to plant trees prior to holding of some of Christian rites and ceremonies here.

Book flights, check in with Cebu Pacific's mobile app for Android

Cebu Pacific Air (PSE:CEB) rolls out its mobile app for Android, to make booking and checking in for flights more convenient for its passengers.

With the mobile app, travelers can book one-way or roundtrip flights for up to 14 passengers on CEB and Tigerair Philippines flights. During the booking process, passengers can also purchase prepaid baggage allowance or select seat assignments. Only credit cards are accepted for mobile app flight bookings.
Meanwhile, guests with existing flight bookings may also check in for their flights using the mobile app.
Mobile check-in is available from 72 hours up to four hours for international flights, and up to two hours for domestic flights. Seats will be automatically be assigned for those with no pre-purchased seat assignments. Boarding passes can be saved as an image or printed straight from the Android device.
Guests can do mobile check-in for up to 14 passengers. It will be initially available for those with web or mobile bookings only.
